some important questions to ask yourself first

Before you get your body piercing or tattoo, you need to think about the following:

  • Do you have any type of medical condition that could be complicated or worsened as a result of piercing or tattooing? Some people are subject to infections or skin conditions that could become severe as a result of piercing or tattooing.
  • Will it affect your chances of getting employed? Of course, this depends on exactly where you want to get pierced or tattooed. Just keep in mind that the barbell in your eyebrow may affect your chances of working in a flash restaurant or an upmarket clothing boutique, or in an office in the city.
  • How will your parents react? It's true that many young people get pierced or tattooed just to get a reaction from their parents. But, if your piercing or tattoo will seriously strain your relationship with them, you might want to think twice. Body art will still be around when you move out of home. And your desire to get a rise out of them may have waned.
