When relationships end

Relationships can end for a number of reasons. Sometimes people change and grow apart or maybe things just don’t feel right anymore. Whatever the reason, deciding to end a relationship can be difficult for all involved.

If you are in a relationship that you are not enjoying then you may be thinking about ending it. This can be tough. Remember that your feelings count and you have a responsibility to speak up for yourself. Treat your partner with dignity, respect and privacy when you end the relationship. Even if you are the one who wants to end it, you may find it hurts more than you thought it would.

Most people will experience a break-up at some point in their lives, and whether you or the other person ended your relationship, this is okay, it just wasn't the right relationship for you. When you are emotionally hurt, it's important to be kind to yourself. Try to talk to the people around you who care about you. While there is no easy remedy, and a lot of time may pass before you feel OK again, things will get easier with time.
