Can all STIs can be cured?

Some STIs can be cured. Other STIs and blood-borne viruses, such as herpes and HIV, can't be cured, but they can be treated effectively.

Vaccines are available for hepatitis B and HPV which can cause genital warts.

To reduce your risks of getting infected, it's important to use condoms, and water-based lubricant.

But remember that some STIs, like herpes and genital warts, can be spread by skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. It is important that you have an STI test if you have had unprotected sex (sex without a condom).

Use our free online chlamydia test to see if you are at risk.
